In 1985, Eva Burrell allowed me to take a 6 week old Calico kitten which had just been turned over to her. She was taking care of animals in her own home at that time. That cat became my very best friend, and was with me day in and day out through the worst times of my life. We spoke to each other in a special language. We were together 15 years before she was called to cross the Rainbow Bridge. You are blessed for the compassionate work you carry on in Eva's name. You don't just provide homes, you make forever friendships.

Cody is settling down well and is slowly adjusting to his back yard. He still walks like a freight train but we're working on it. He still has the open door policy on his crate but he will go into it. He's working on stay. He sends HI and Love to all and Thanks.

Roughly seven years ago I was in elementary school, and volunteering out at the animal shelter with my dad and sister. From my experience spending time out there, even though it was a while ago, was life changing. Pretty soon my family had adopted a 1 year old dog named Digger, who we fell in love with on our visits to the shelter. Digger is now a very happy girl with a forever home full of love and lots of treats:)! We are truly thankful for the joy that little dog has brought to our home. Adopting a shelter dog is the way to go, for it brings joy not only to that forgotten animal, but to the owners also. You are such wonderful people for helping those that cannot help themselves! We need more people like that. Keep up the great work!

Two and 3 years ago I adopted two kittens from the shelter. Our cat had passed away after 14 years. I wasn't sure I wanted to get another one because Blackie had been such a good cat, but I couldn't be happier. These two girls are the light of my life and are the best of buds. I've always liked cats, but I LOVE these two! My husband always mentions how he can tell they are grateful that I gave them a home. You're a great organization!

You have a great website that helps people find out more information about the Humane Society and the animals you have up for adoption. I am working on a merit badge for Boy Scouts and can't wait to volunteer my time at the shelter and learn more.

Have you tried using a shock collar on Lucy? I've used it on my dogs that used to run and it truly works. It works very well when used correctly. I hope this can help!

I Adopted Pixie from your shelter about 3 years ago after I had to have my other cat put to sleep due to Lymphoma Cancer at the age of 6 years old. pixie was a huge blessing in my life after I lost my first cat to Cancer so more or less she was saved by God as a special Gift for me. I love her to Pieces and always will.

I recently drove 800 miles round trip to adopt my pet Jozie (fomerly known as Jewel). Jozie (Chocolate Lab/Husky mix)was 7 weeks old when I adopted her. I cannot tell you how happy I am with the Humane Society of Schoolcraft County, the staff, the volunteers, and the care they provided to Jozie. This adoption was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Thank you!

We visited the website looking for a lost cat. We immediately fell in love with Tootsie, and we decided to visit the shelter. While we intended on taking only one cat home, we ended up with two beautiful tabbys. Our 16 month old God-daughter named the kitten "Honey" and while we thought we had "Tootsie" it turns out we actually have a male who we named "Ozzy". Both cats are adjusting soooooo well. Our other cat, "Jezebell" was not too fond of them at first, but she's starting to warm up to Ozzy....just a little! Thank you for all you do for these little ones! We are grateful for the new additions to our family :)
